You may not receive a new e-mail message notification when you receive a new e-mail message in Outlook 2003 (827304)

SYMPTOMS

When you receive new e-mail messages in Outlook 2003, you may not receive an e-mail message notification in the notification area.

Note The new e-mail message notification icon is a closed envelope.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you manually start the Send/Receive process. This problem may also occur the first time that the Send/Receive process occurs after you start Outlook 2003.

MORE INFORMATION

To manually start the Send/Receive process, press F9 or click Send/Receive.

For more information about new e-mail message notifications, click Microsoft Outlook Help on the Help menu, type Notify me when new messages arrive in the Search for box in the Assistance pane, and then click Start searching to view the topic.
