You cannot change the formatting of an annotation shape by editing the ShapeSheet in Visio 2003 (827284)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to modify the format of an Annotation shape by editing the ShapeSheet, the changes do not affect the appearance of the lines in the shape. For example, you can change the line color, the line pattern, the line weight, or the character color, but the appearance of the shape does not change.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the formatting commands that are provided in the user interface to change the appearance of the Annotation shape. For example, to change the line color to blue, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the Annotation shape, point to Format, and then click Line.
  2. In the Line dialog box, click 04 (blue) in the Color list, and then click OK.
