FIX: The APPC RECEIVE_ALLOCATE Timeout Works Only in One-Second Intervals (827253)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000
- Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 SP1
SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Advanced Program-to-Program Communications (APPC) RECEIVE_ALLOCATE timeout value, the timeout occurs only in one-second (1000-milliseconds) intervals. For example, if a timeout value of 300 milliseconds is configured, the timeout does not occur until 1000 milliseconds have passed.
This is not the intended behavior of the timeout value.
Note This problem also affects the Common Programming Interface for Communications (CPI-C) Accept_Conversation (cmaccp) function call because it calls the APPC RECEIVE_ALLOCATE function.CAUSEHost Integration Server 2000 now supports external attach managers. When the changes were made to support external attach managers, an internal status routine was mistakenly hard-coded to wait for 1000 milliseconds. As a result, when the timeout value is passed, it is not actually picked up until the next 1000-millisecond interval.RESOLUTIONService pack information To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000.
