The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office Visio 2003, when you try to use
surrogate pair characters when you name an object in the Drawing Explorer
window, the surrogate pair characters do not appear correctly. The characters
appear as square boxes. For example, when you right-click Foreground
Pages in the Drawing Explorer window, click Insert
Page, use surrogate pair characters in the Name box,
and then click OK, the characters appear as square
boxes.CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Drawing Explorer tree view
does not currently support surrogate pair characters.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, do not use surrogate pair
characters in the Name box of an object in the Drawing
Explorer window, or when you rename an object in the Drawing Explorer
window.STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
