Surrogate pair characters are not displayed correctly in the Define Custom Properties dialog box in Visio 2003 (827239)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use surrogate pair characters in the Label box, in the Define Custom Properties dialog box in Microsoft Office Visio 2003, the characters appear as square boxes.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because some system controls in Visio 2003 do not support surrogate pair characters.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use surrogate pair characters in the Label box, in the Define Custom Properties dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
