Calls to the FtpGetFile Function Time Out (827173)

SYMPTOMS

After you successfully open a WinInet File Transfer Protocol (FTP) connection by using the InternetOpen function and the InternetConnect function, calls to the FtpGetFile function to retrieve a file or to retrieve a collection of files eventually time out.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0.
