This article describes the Microsoft Office 2000 Japanese
Input Method Editor issues that are fixed in the Office 2000 Japanese Input
Method Editor hotfix package that is dated September 12, 2003.

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package.
- When you use the Input Method Editor (IME) in Microsoft
Office 2000 to type Double-Byte Character Set (DBCS) characters, you may
experience one of the following symptoms:
- When you type DBCS characters to change the name of a
folder, Microsoft Windows Explorer in Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition,
Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows 95 may stop responding.
-or- - When you type DBCS characters in a text box on a Web
Page, Microsoft Internet Explorer may stop responding.
Note This issue also affects the Office 2000 Japanese Input Method
Editor when used with Windows Explorer in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
(Me). The fix that is described in this article does not apply to the Office
2000 Japanese Input Method Editor when used with Windows Explorer in Windows
Millennium Edition (Me).
