Automated Deployment services takes a long time to deploy an image (827085)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
SYMPTOMSWhen you use Automated Deployment Services (ADS) to deploy an image, the deployment may take a long time (between 30 minutes and 4 hours, depending on the image). On the device that is started with the ADS Deployment Agent, you may notice the network connection status fluctuate between connected and disconnected.CAUSEThis issue occurs if the sending port and the receiving port on the network card that is installed in the device that is running the ADS Deployment Agent have different settings for the speed and the mode of the network card. This issue may also occur if you are using network hardware, such as a switch or a router, that can affect the speed or mode of network connections.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, adjust the settings of your network card, switch, or router, so that the settings for the speed and the mode of both the sending port and the receiving port are the same. If this does not correct the problem, you must contact the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of your network card to obtain information about how to change the default network speed. As part of this process, you may have to obtain a new driver and install it in the Program Files\Microsoft ADS\NBS\Repository\User\PreSystem folder on your Windows Server 2003-based computer.
