Access Violation If You Try to View a Remote Event Log When You Use the Finnish Multilingual User Interface (826983)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Computer Management snap-in to try to view events in the event log of a remote computer, an access violation may occur.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You have the Finnish Multilingual User Interface (MUI) installed.

    -and-
  • You are logged on as a domain user.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing.
