"Stop 0x0000007B" error message after you remove Dell OpenManage software in Windows 2000 Server (826901)

RESOLUTION

1. Load a parallel installation of Microsoft Windows 2000 on the same partition as your original Windows 2000 installation. For example, load the parallel installation on C:\Winnt2. 2. From the parallel Windows 2000 installation, start Registry Editor. To do so, click Start, click Run, type regedt32 in the Open box, and then click OK.
   
   Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
3. Load the SYSTEM hive from the original Windows 2000 installation folder. To load the SYSTEM hive, follow these steps:
   
   Note In the following steps, C:\Winnt represents the original Windows 2000 installation folder, and C:\Winnt2 represents the parallel installation location. Your installation locations may vary.
   1. Locate and then click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry subtree.
   2. On the Registry menu, click Load Hive.
   3. In the Look in: box, locate and then click C:\Winnt\System32\Config\System. Click Open in the Key Name box, and then type a name for the key. (For example, type TEMP.) Click OK.
      
      Note In the following steps, the key name TEMP represents the loaded SYSTEM hive from the original Windows 2000 installation. Replace TEMP with the key name that you used.
4. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\TEMP\ControlSet001\Services

   
   
5. Under the Services subkey, locate and then click the Perc2 subkey. In the right pane make sure that the Start value is set to 0.
6. Repeat step 5 for the Perchib registry subkey.
7. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\TEMP\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002 BE10318}

8. In the right pane, double-click the UpperFilters entry. In the Multi-String Editor dialog box, delete the AFAMGT entry.
9. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\TEMP\ControlSet001\Services\AFAMGT

10. In the right pane, double-click the Start entry. In the Data box, type 4, and then click OK.
11. To unload the SYSTEM hive from the original Windows 2000 installation, click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\TEMP. On the Registry menu, click Unload Hive, and then click Yes.
12. Quit Registry Editor.
13. To make the Windows NT Boot Loader pause indefinitely, change the timeout value in the Boot.ini file to timeout=-1. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

14. Restart your computer from your original Windows 2000 installation, and then delete the parallel Windows 2000 installation folder.
15. In the Boot.ini file, remove the entry that points to the parallel installation of Windows 2000, and then set the timeout value back to its original value. Restore the read-only attribute of the Boot.ini file.
