"SIDHistory Could Not Be Updated Due to a Configuration or Permissions Problem" Error Message When You Use the ADMT Tool (826896)

SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) to
migrate users, groups, or computers between two Microsoft Windows 2000 domains,
or between a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 domain and a Windows 2000 domain, the
migration is unsuccessful. If you view the Migration.log file, you see error
messages that are similar to the following: 2001-11-17
11:59:56-E20583: SID History cannot be updated for
username. This operation requires the
TcpipClientSupport registry key to be set on corp.contoso.com. rc=6. 2001-11-17
11:59:56-W10669: SIDHistory could not be updated due to a configuration or
permissions problem. The Active Directory Migration Tool will not attempt to
migrate the remaining objects. 2001-11-17 11:59:56-Operation
Aborted. Note The Migration.log file is stored in the folder where you
installed ADMT, typically in the %Program Files%\Active Directory Migration
Tool folder. CAUSEThis issue may occur if the target domain (that you are
migrating objects to) cannot resolve the source domain through Domain Name
System (DNS).RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, correct the DNS resolution problem.
