SYMPTOMSWhen you open a Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server
2003 home page (Default.aspx) in Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, and then
optimize the HTML to remove leading whitespace, the Actions
link bar area of the Default.aspx page is removed, and you receive one of the
following error messages instead: Error - Object
reference not set to an instance of an object. -or- Error rendering Web Part If you preview the Web page in a
Web browser, it appears correctly. CAUSEThis behavior occurs if you add or remove whitespace from
the SPSWC:Toolbar control. WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, update the display. To do
this, click Refresh on the View menu. When
you update the display, FrontPage obtains the Web Part contents from the Web
server and the Web part again appears correctly.
