The Install with database engine option is not available when you try to install Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (826791)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to install Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, the install with database engine option may be unavailable. As a result, you cannot install the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE). CAUSEThis behavior may occur if you install SharePoint Portal Server on a domain controller. Because of security features that are included with Windows Server 2003, you can only use the remote database option when you install SharePoint Portal Server on a domain controller. WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, use one of the following methods.Method 1: Install SharePoint Portal Server on a Member ServerWhen you install SharePoint Portal Server on a Windows Server 2003 member server, you can click to select the option to install the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE).
Note You must use the version of MSDE that SharePoint Portal Server installs.Method 2: Install SQL Server 2000 SP3Install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 together with the latest service pack on the domain controller. You can use SQL Server 2000 SP3 or later for your SharePoint Portal Server database.
