Cannot Edit Pictures in the SharePoint Picture Library (826784)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
SYMPTOMS When you try to edit a picture in the Windows SharePoint
Services picture library, you may receive the following error message:
picture library name: Software
not installed.
This feature requires a Windows SharePoint
Services-compatible control, such as Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Either
the control is not installed, or your browser is not configured to support
ActiveX Controls. CAUSE This issue occurs if either of the following conditions are
true:
- You do not have Microsoft Office Picture Manager installed
on the computer that you are using to locate your SharePoint picture
library.
-or- - Your Web browser is not configured to support ActiveX
Controls.
WORKAROUND To resolve this issue, install Picture Manager, or change
your Local intranet zone settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer to allow
support ActiveX Controls and plug-ins. To install Picture Manager,
follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- Click Microsoft Office 2003, and then
click Change.
- Click Add or Remove Features, and then
click Next.
- In the Features to install list, expand
Office Tools.
- Click the down arrow next to Microsoft Office
Picture Manager, and then click Run from My
Computer.
- Insert your Microsoft Office 2003 CD in your CD-ROM drive
or DVD-ROM drive when you are prompted, and then click Update.
- Click OK when Setup is
complete.
If Picture Manager is already installed, you must change your
Local intranet zone settings in Internet Explorer to allow ActiveX Controls and
plug-ins. Note If you access your SharePoint picture library over the Internet,
you must change your Internet zone settings instead of your Local intranet zone
settings in Internet Explorer to allow ActiveX Controls and plug-ins.
To change your Local intranet zone settings in Internet Explorer to
allow ActiveX Controls and plug-ins, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet
Options.
- Click the Security tab, click
Local intranet (or click Internet, depending
on how you access your SharePoint picture library), and then click
Custom Level.
- Under Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins,
click Enable.
- Click OK, click Yes to
confirm that you want to change the security settings for this zone, click
Apply, and then click OK.
