SYMPTOMS
When you open a workbook in Microsoft Office Excel 2003, you
receive one of the following error messages:
This
workbook contains one or more Microsoft Excel 4.0 macros. These macros may
contain viruses or other harmful code. These macros will be disabled.
-or-
This workbook contains one or more
Microsoft Excel 4.0 macros. These macros may contain viruses or other harmful
code. Open this workbook only if you trust the source. Do you want to enable
these macros?
Note You receive the first error message if the
Macro
Security setting is set to
High or
Very
High. You receive the second error message if the setting is set to
Medium. You do not receive an error message if the
Macro Security setting is set to
Low, and the
XLM macros in the defined names will run.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem,, you can remove the defined
name or names from the workbook. To do so, follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, point to
Name, and then click Define.
- Select a name and look to see if the name is assigned to a
spreadsheet range or constant.
If the name is not assigned to a range
or constant, make note of what the name is assigned to, and then click
Delete. - Repeat step 2 for each name that is defined for the
workbook.
- Click OK.
- On the File menu, click Save
as, and then save the workbook under a different name.
