You Cannot Install Content Integration Pack 2 When MCMS and SharePoint Portal Server Are on Different Domains (826520)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Integration Pack 2 for Content Management Server 2002 and SharePoint Portal Server 2001

SYMPTOMS

You try to install Microsoft Content Integration Pack 2 for Content Management Server 2002 and SharePoint Portal Server 2001 when the following conditions are true:
  • You try to install it on two different servers, one server that is running Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 and one server that is running Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001.
  • Each server belongs to a different domain.
When these conditions are true, the installation may not be successful, and you receive the following error message:
Enter a valid SharePoint Portal Server name.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a setup issue occurs, and the location of one domain is not found although a two-way trust exists between the two different domains.
