You cannot use the Remote Kernel Tracker tool with an application that is not trusted (826381)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you run an application that is not trusted on an operating system that has trust enabled, and when the Remote Kernel Tracker tool is active, the operating system may unexpectedly shut down. Calls that the Remote Kernel Tracker tool, Celog.lib, makes to some kernel functions do not succeed. Data in Celog.lib may not be valid for time stamps.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the application does not have trusted credentials. Celog.lib does not handle the failures correctly and may use incorrect data or may malfunction.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 4.2 Core OS QFE 826381. To resolve this problem immediately, click the following article number for information about obtaining Windows CE Platform Builder and core operating system software updates:

Prerequisites

This fix is supported only when all previously issued fixes for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this hotfix, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
