SUMMARY

Persistent Storage Manager (PSM) Service Pack 2 (SP2) is the most recent version of PSM version 2.2 that is available to vendors of Columbia Data Products.

This package provides improved reliability for users of existing PSM version 2.2 who currently use Service Pack 1 (SP1). Some of the fixes that are included with this service pack have been previously released as separate hotfixes. This service pack combines the updates in one integrated package. This service pack includes other changes that are designed to improve the reliability of PSM.

Bug Fixes That Are Included in PSM SP2

Persistent Storage Manager SP2 includes fixes for the following issues:
  • You might receive a 0x07F stop error on a blue screen because of filter stack overflow.
  • The "\snapshots" directory is needlessly created.
  • You receive an occasional stop error during a cluster rapid rolling fail-over.
  • You may receive a stop error when you rename a snapshot junction point.
  • Memory leaks when a user requests PSM volume information.
  • The computer may stop responding during startup if the PSM cache usage is between 80% and 90%.
  • The computer may stop responding if the NTFS file system volume is not formatted correctly or if the NTFS data structure is bad.
  • You receive a stop error when you run the Reextended.exe program for a basic type volume.
  • You receive stop errors if the system has extremely low virtual memory.
  • The Open Transaction Manager driver (OTMBridge driver) is not compatible with third-party backup software.

Before You Install the Service Pack

  • You must remove PSM version 1.0 before you install PSM version 2.2. You cannot upgrade PSM 1.0 directly to PSM 2.2.
  • You must upgrade and install in the following order:
    1. Upgrade PSM 2.0 to PSM 2.1.
    2. Upgrade PSM 2.1 to PSM SP1.
    3. Install PSM SP2.
    To obtain PSM 2.1 and PSM SP1, contact your Technical Account Manager.
  • You can upgrade PSM 2.2 SP1 to PSM SP2. All existing Persistent True Images and schedules are preserved.

The following products and service packs are required:
  • Persistent Storage Manager 2.2, with Service Pack 1 installed
  • Microsoft Server Appliance Kit 2.01 (build 2204.7)
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 installed
