This service pack also resolves the following issues in the previous release of Windows Powered NAS 2.01:
  • Services for UNIX now allows you to add group names by using friendly names.
  • Services for UNIX now allows you to edit share properties during a file copy.
  • You must now use an HTTPS site to administer Windows Powered Network-Attached Storage (NAS) by using the Windows Powered NAS Web user interface (UI).
  • You can now configure security settings for the HTTP sharing protocol by using the Windows Powered NAS Web UI.

Installation requirements

Following are the requirements to run Windows 2000 for NAS 2.01 SP1:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4) or later is installed.

    To download Windows 2000 SP4, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
  • Server Appliance Kit version 2.01 is installed.
  • If Server Appliance Kit version 2.0 Build 2204 is installed, that build corresponds to Server Appliance Kit 2.01.
  • If Services for UNIX is installed, Services for UNIX version 2.2 with update Q327473 is required.
  • If Services for NetWare is installed, Services for NetWare version 5.02 or later is recommended.

Installing this service pack

  • Do not use the SAK 2.01 software update feature to install Windows 2000 for NAS 2.01 SP1.
  • To install Windows 2000 for NAS 2.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on an existing network-attached storage server, you must copy the Nas2sp1setup.msi file to the computer. Use Terminal Services to connect to the computer, and then run the .msi file.
  • This service pack bundles a number of hotfixes together.
    • Do not install the individual hotfixes that are bundled with Windows 2000 for NAS 2.01 SP1 after you install this service pack.
    • To install a specific hotfix that is bundled in this service pack, reinstall this service pack.
  • The hotfixes that are bundled with Windows 2000 for NAS 2.01 SP1 are also supported on a network-attached storage device with the SAK 2.0 Add-on Pack installed.

Unattended installation

To perform an unattended (quiet mode) installation of this service pack, run the following command:

msiexec /i nas2sp1setup.msi /q

Note When you run an unattended installation of this service pack, you accept the terms of the end user license agreement (EULA) by default.

Uninstalling Windows 2000 for NAS 2.01 SP1

To remove this service pack after installation, use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
