FIX: "Incorrect Syntax Near '='" Error Message When You Delete Multiple Orders in BizDesk (825656)

SYMPTOMS

In Commerce Server 2002 or Commerce Server 2002 SP1, you receive the following error message when you try to delete multiple orders in Business Desk (BizDesk):
Error:
The record(s) could not be deleted.
Number: 0x80040E14
Description: Line 1: Incorrect syntax near '='.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Commerce Server 2002. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Note After you install Service Pack 2, you must manually update your BizDesk file before you start Commerce Server BizDesk. To do this, copy the Orders_util.vbs file from the Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server 2002\sp2\bizdesk\orders\include folder to the corresponding BizDesk application folder. For more information, see the ReadMe_sp2.htm file. This file is located in the Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server 2002\sp2\ folder.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This issue exists only in BizDesk for Commerce Server 2002 and Commerce Server 2002 SP1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Create two orders in the Commerce Server 2002 Retail site.
  2. Start BizDesk.
  3. On the Module Order menu, click Order Status.
  4. In the right pane, click All orders in the drop-down list box.
  5. Select one of the orders that you created in step 1 (order A).
  6. Select the other order that you created in step 1 (order B).
  7. Cancel the selection of order A.
  8. Select order A again.
  9. Click Delete.
