You cannot increase the size of a dynamically expanding virtual drive to more than 2 GB when you run Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0 under Mac OS version 8.6 (825550)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0 under Mac OS version 8.6 and you try to increase the size of a dynamically expanding virtual drive, your limit is 2 gigabytes (GB).

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Mac OS 8.6 file sizes are limited to 2 GB. The virtual drive is a single file on the host Macintosh.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to the latest version of Mac OS 9.
