You cannot install your own copy of Microsoft Windows 2000 in Virtual PC for Mac (825526)

RESOLUTION

1. Insert the Windows 2000 CD, and then wait until the CD is mounted on the Macintosh desktop.
2. Start Virtual PC.
3. On the Virtual PC List, click Start Up.
4. When you see the Press a key to boot from CD dialog box, press RETURN to start the installation. If the virtual machine does not start from the Windows 2000 CD, follow these steps:
   1. The Windows 2000 CDs include four bootable floppy disk images. The floppy disk images are located in the BOOTDISK folder of the Windows 2000 CD. The bootable floppy disk images are cdboot1.img, cdboot2.img, cdboot3.img, and cdboot4.img. Copy the four boot disk images to an easily accessible location on your Macintosh computer.
   2. Click Start Up, and then mount the first disk image (cdboot1.img). If you receive the following message, press ENTER: OS not found, Install an OS on this hard drive. If you receive the following message, press ENTER and the virtual machine will start from the floppy disk image: Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device.
   3. Verify that the Windows 2000 CD is mounted in the virtual machine. Follow the prompts on the screen. Mount the remaining three floppy disk images when you are prompted to do so.
5. When Welcome to Setup appears, press ENTER to start Windows 2000 Setup.
