This article describes how to create new virtual machines in Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1. It also includes a list of available operating systems.

To manually create a new virtual machine in Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1, follow these steps:
  1. Start Virtual PC.
  2. Click New.
  3. In theHow would you like to create your PC? list, click Create a PC manually, and then click the right-arrow button.
  4. In theHow would you like to set up your PC's operating system? list, click Install an operating system onto an empty PC, and then click the right-arrow button.
  5. On the Select an Operating System page, click the operating system that you want, and then click the right-arrow button.
  6. On the Select a Memory Setting page, move the slider to the memory allocation that you want, and then click the right-arrow button.
  7. On the Undo Drives page, click Yes or No, and then click the right-arrow button.
  8. On the Select a PC Name page, type a name for the virtual machine, and then click the right-arrow button. If you want to change the installation location, click Change Location.
  9. On the Conclusion page, click Create.
The following operating system choices are available when you create a new virtual machine:
  • Windows XP
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows NT
  • Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
  • Linux
  • Windows 98
  • Windows 95
  • Windows 3.1
