Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Create a common Internet File System (CIFS) shared folder. Make sure that the Everyone group has Full Control.
  2. Use a client computer to connect to the newly created shared folder, and then copy multiple files or one large file from the client computer to the shared folder.
  3. On the network attached storage (NAS) server, using Computer Management, click Shared Folders, and then click Open Files.

The files that are currently open have Open Mode status of Write.
  4. Use the Server Appliance Kit WebUI to review the status of Shared Files and the Open Mode status of the same open file(s).

Notice that their status is listed as NO ACCESS.
  5. Using the client computer, open a file that is in the shared folder. Make sure the account that you use to access the shared folder has Full Control NTFS file system permissions for the file.
    • In the WebUI, files that have Write+Read permissions show a status of NO ACCESS.
    • In Computer Management, the Open Mode of files that are open correctly displays the Write+Read permissions.
