The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7
- Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1
- Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 6.0
SYMPTOMSWhen you share a secondary hard disk image between one or more virtual machines and then switch the hard disk image between the virtual machines, any Undo Drive data is discarded from the secondary hard disk image.CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Undo Drive data is based on the virtual machine instead of on the secondary hard disk image. As a result, when you switch the hard disk image, the Undo Drive data is discarded.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use one of the following methods. Method 1: Turn Off Undo DriveNote This method turns off Undo Drive for all hard disk images that are used by the virtual machine. - In the Virtual PC List, select the virtual machine that you want to modify.
- Click Settings.
- Click Undo Drives, and then click to clear the Enable Undo Drives check box.
- Click OK.
Repeat these steps for each virtual machine that shares the same secondary drive. Method 2: Make a Backup Copy of the Secondary Hard Disk Image You can make a backup copy of the secondary hard disk image by using the backup program of your choice. You can also make a backup copy of the secondary hard disk image by following these steps: - Locate the Virtual PC hard disk image on your Mac hard disk.
- Press and hold Control, and then click the hard disk image icon.
- Click Duplicate.
If you want to, you can rename the copy of the hard disk image icon.
