Dock Icon Is Not Created When You Start 16-Bit Windows Programs in the Windows Guest Operating System (825404)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7
- Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1
- Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 6.0
SYMPTOMSWhen you start a 16-bit Windows program (such as
Drwatson.exe) in the Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP guest operating system, the
program does not appear on the Dock.CAUSEThis behavior occurs because 16-bit programs run in a shell
that emulates a 16-bit operating system. This emulation prevents 16-bit
Windows programs from appearing on the Dock because it is an emulation on top of the hardware emulation that Connectix Virtual
PC for Mac version 6.0 or Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1 provides.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
