-39 Error when you click a VHD file in Mac OS 9 (825395)
The information in this article applies to:
- Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 6.0, when used with:
- the operating system: Mac OS 9.0
SYMPTOMS After you install Virtual PC for Mac version 6.0, when you
click a VHD file in the Mac finder you may receive the following error
message: -39 error CAUSE This issue may occur if either of the following conditions
is true:
- An earlier version of Virtual PC is still installed on your
system.
- Your desktop has not been rebuilt since you installed
Virtual PC for Mac version 6.0.
RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- If an earlier version of Virtual PC is still installed on
your system, remove that version. To remove the earlier version of
Virtual PC, drag the following items to the trash can:
- The Virtual PC program
Look for the earlier version of Virtual PC program on
your Mac desktop. The program is typically located in your Applications
folder. - The Virtual PC List folder
Look for the earlier version of Virtual PC List folder on
your Mac desktop. This folder is typically located in your Documents
folder. - The Virtual PC Scripts folder
Look for the earlier version of Virtual PC Scripts folder on
your Mac desktop. This folder is typically located in your Documents
folder.
Note If you have never enabled scripts, you may not have a Scripts
folder.
- Rebuild your desktop. To do this, restart the computer
while you press and hold down COMMAND+OPTION. When you see the Are you
sure you want to rebuild the desktop file on the disk Disk
Name? dialog box, release the COMMAND+OPTION keys, and
then click OK.
