Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0 can read the flat hard-disk images from Connectix Virtual PC for Mac versions 2.x and 3.x. These earlier version hard-disk images are treated as fixed-size disks, but you can convert them to dynamically expanding hard-disk images by using the Virtual Disk Assistant. To read these hard-disk images, you must first attach them to a virtual computer as a secondary drive. The secondary drive may be Drive 2 or Drive 3.

Attach hard disk images

To attach a Virtual PC for Mac version 2.x or version 3.x hard-disk image to a virtual computer, follow these steps:
  1. In the Virtual PC list, click the virtual machine that you want to attach the hard-disk image to.
  2. Click Settings, and then click Drive 2 or Drive 3.
  3. Click Select, locate the hard-disk image, and then click Open.
  4. Click OK.

Convert hard-disk images

To convert a Virtual PC for Mac version 2.x or version 3.x hard-disk image to a dynamically expanding hard-disk image, follow these steps:
  1. On the Window menu, click Virtual Disk Assistant.
  2. Click Examine or modify existing disk image, and then click the right arrow.
  3. Click Select a hard drive or floppy image file, and then click the right arrow.
  4. Click Select Disk, and then locate the hard-disk image.
  5. Click Open, click the right arrow, and then click the right arrow again.
  6. Click Convert, and then click Done.
