The Standard and Formatting toolbars appear on the same line when Project Professional 2003 is connected to Project Server 2003 (825220)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you start Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003 and connect to a
computer that is running Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, the Standard and Formatting
toolbars appear together on the same line. However, when you start Project
Professional 2003 in offline mode, the Formatting toolbar appears on top of the
Standard toolbar. If you change the location of the toolbars while you are
connected to a computer that is running Project Server 2003 and then quit
Project Professional 2003, you find the locations of the toolbars were not
saved when you restart Project Professional 2003.CAUSEThis problem occurs because Project Professional 2003 does
not save the toolbar location if the cached global file (Global.mpt) already
exists on the computer. Project Professional 2003 only saves the toolbar
location when creating a new Global.mpt file.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use one of the following
methods. Method 1- Start Project Professional 2003, and then connect to a computer
that is running Project Server 2003.
This step assumes that the user
has administrative credentials in Project Server 2003. - Move the toolbars to the location that you want.
- On the Tools menu, point to
Enterprise Options, and then click Open Enterprise
Global.
- On the Tools menu, click
Organizer....
- Click the Toolbars tab.
- In the Global (+ cached Enterprise) area,
click Formatting, and then click Copy
>> to move the Formatting toolbar to the Check-out
Enterprise Global area.
- In the Global (+ cached Enterprise) area,
click Standard, and then click Copy >>
to move the Standard toolbar to the Check-out Enterprise
Global area.
- In the
Organizer dialog box, click Close, and then quit Project Professional
2003.
- Click Yes, to save the Checked-out
Enterprise Global changes.
- Start Project Professional 2003, and then connect to a computer
that is running Project Server 2003.
The toolbars will be
separated. Method 2- Click Start, and then click My
Computer.
- Locate the following folder, where
drive is the drive where Microsoft Windows is
installed and username is the name of the account
that is currently logged on to the computer:
drive:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\MS Project\11\1033\ - Delete the Global.mpt file.
- Start Project Professional 2003, and then connect to a computer
that is running Project Server 2003.
- Move the toolbars to the location that you want.
- Quit Project Professional 2003.
The toolbar
information will be saved to a new Global.mpt file. - Start Project Professional 2003, and then connect to a computer
that is running Project Server 2003.
The toolbars will be
separated. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
