Tablet PC Disables Office XP Handwriting Features (824916)

SYMPTOMS

When using a Microsoft Office XP program on a Tablet PC, some of the handwriting tools may not be available. Office Setup shows that the handwriting features are installed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Tablet PC handwriting tools replace the default handwriting tools that are included with Office XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC. To download the Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC from the Microsoft Office Web site, follow these steps:
  1. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:

    http://office.microsoft.com/downloads

  2. In the Search for Downloads box, under Product, click Office.
  3. Under Version, click 2002/XP.
  4. Click to clear the Updates - .... check box and the Converters .... check box if they are currently selected.
  5. Click to select Add-ins and Extras, and then click Update List.
  6. Click Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC, and then follow the directions to download and install the add-in. Remember to review the Before you install section before you start the download.
