SUMMARY
This article describes the Microsoft Word 2002 issues that
are fixed in the Word 2002 Post-Service Pack 2 Hotfix package that is dated
August 9, 2003.
Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package
The following issues are fixed in this hotfix package.
823777 Quotation marks in Chinese document change to different characters
827488 Text may be missing when you view a Word document in different views or when you scroll the document in Word 2002
The following issue is also fixed in this hotfix package. The
following issue was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base
article.
- When you select the body of a document and then press F9 to
update fields, only the first occurrence of a NUMPAGES field is updated. If
your document body contains multiple NUMPAGES fields, and you then press F9 a
second time, the second NUMPAGES field is updated. If you press F9 a third
time, the third NUMPAGES field is updated, and so on.

Office XP updates and patches released after September 2002 may require Windows Installer 2.0
- The full-file version of this hotfix is also the
administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the
hotfix with Office XP Service Pack 1 (SP-1). However, Microsoft has not tested
this fix on Office XP SP-1 to the same extent as on Office XP Service Pack 2
(SP-2). If you install this hotfix on a computer with Office XP SP-1 installed,
some file conflicts might occur. Microsoft supports this configuration, but
Microsoft does not recommend this configuration.
