SYMPTOMS

The built-in command-line File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client that is included in the Microsoft Windows operating systems that are listed at the beginning of this article can handle a maximum of 10,000 files with the "multiple" commands (for example, MGET, MPUT, and MDELETE). You receive no error message when this limit is exceeded.

WORKAROUND

You may be able to script a workaround in FTP by using the single file operation commands (for example, PUT and GET). Or, you can try using a third-party FTP client.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
