You receive an "The encoding format for this file is not supported" error message when you import your junk e-mail filter list in Outlook 2003 (823916)

SYMPTOMSWhen you import a text file that contains a list of e-mail
addresses to add to your junk e-mail filter, you may receive the following
message: The encoding format for this file is not
supported. Resave the file using either ANSI or Unicode
encoding.CAUSEThis behavior occurs when the text file is formatted as
UTF-8.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this behavior, save your junk e-mail filter list
again as either ANSI or UNICODE text, and then import your list. To do this,
follow these steps:
- Start Notepad, and then open your junk e-mail filter
list.
- If your file contains the e-mail addresses that you want to
add to your e-mail filter list, click Save As on the
File menu.
- In the Save As dialog box, click either
ANSI or Unicode in the
Encoding list, and then click
Save.
- Click Yes when you receive the following
message:
path\filename
already exists. Do you want to replace it?

e-mail in the Search for box in the Assistance
