This article describes how to reset menus or toolbars in Excel X for Mac or in Word X for Mac. You may want to do this if you find that items are missing from the built in tool bars or from menus in Excel or in Word.

To reset menus, toolbars or the Formatting Palette in Excel, follow these steps:
  1. Quit Excel.
  2. Drag the following file to the Trash (depending on your version of Excel):

    Excel Settings (10)

  3. Start Excel. The toolbars and menus are reset to the default configuration.

    Note You may also have to drag the following file to the Trash (depending on your version of Excel):

    Excel ToolBars (10)

To reset menus, toolbars or the Formatting Palette in Word, follow these steps:
  1. Quit Word.
  2. Drag the following file to the Trash:
