Available memory decreases when you view a Web page in Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (823727)

SYMPTOMS

When you view a Web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may experience a decrease in available memory on your computer.

CAUSE

This problem may occur over a long time (for example, several hours) when you run a script that constantly changes the background color of a button that also contains a background image.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 service pack that contains this hotfix.
