Event IDs 40960 and 40961 in the System Event Log When You Restart Windows Server 2003 After You Run Dcpromo.exe (823712)

SYMPTOMS

After you run the Dcpromo.exe utility to promote a Windows Server 2003-based computer to a domain controller, and then you restart the server, the following warning events appear in the system event log:

Description:
The Security System detected an authentication error for the server ldap/dca.acc.local. The failure code from authentication protocol Kerberos was "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. (0xc000005e)".

Description:
The Security System could not establish a secured connection with the server ldap/dca.acc.local. No authentication protocol was available.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you restart the server that was promoted to a domain controller. In this scenario, the Windows Time service (W32Time) tries to authenticate before Directory Services has started. There are no adverse effects on computers that experience the warning events that are described in the "Symptoms" section.
