The System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses() procedure fails on a computer that is running Windows 2000 (823642)

SYMPTOMS

The System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses() procedure fails on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the idle threads are not correctly initialized when a computer that is running Windows 2000 starts, and an unrecognized performance counter is returned to the Windows 2000 operating system. This causes the System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses() procedure to fail.

RESOLUTION
