The Internet Settings Dialog Box of Pocket Internet Explorer Does Not Fit in QVGA Mode (823609)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

The Internet Settings dialog box of Pocket Internet Explorer does not all fit in QVGA mode (240 x 320 screen resolution) for languages that do not support localized resource files. A portion of the dialog box is not visible on the screen.

These languages are:
  • Brazilian
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese
  • Dutch
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish
  • Swedish

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Inetcpl_qvga.res resource file (for the languages that are listed in the "Symptoms" section) uses the VGA dialog box size.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Copy the English version of Inetcpl_qvga.res file from the following folder:

    \WINCE420\PUBLIC\IE\Oak\Lib\ProcessorName\Retail

  2. Paste the Inetcpl_qvga.res file into a localized resource folder and overwrite the existing Inetcpl_qvga.res file.

    For example, paste the English version of Inetcpl_qvga.res into the following Korean localized resource folder by overwriting the existing file:

    \WINCE420\PUBLIC\IE\Oak\Lib\ProcessorName\Retail\0412\

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
