Watermark is deleted when you edit and save a page in your portal site by using Office FrontPage 2003 (823550)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003
  • Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003

SYMPTOMS

You may experience one or both of the following symptoms when you use Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 to edit pages in your portal site:
  • When you save the portal site home page in FrontPage, the "SharePoint Portal Server" watermark is missing from the page.
  • When you click My Site, and then you save the My Site home page or any page that uses the "My Site" watermark in FrontPage, the watermark is missing from the page.

WORKAROUND

To resolve this issue, do one of the following (as appropriate to your situation):
  • Manually add the watermarks to the pages that you saved in FrontPage.

    -or-
  • Copy the watermarks from the appropriate file on the server to the page that you saved in FrontPage. To do so, follow these steps:
    • You can copy the "SharePoint Portal Server" watermark from the following file on the server to the page that you saved in FrontPage:

      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\Template\1033\SPS\default.aspx

    • You can copy the "My Site" watermark from the following file on the server to the page that you saved in FrontPage:

      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\Template\1033\Spsmsite\default.aspx

    Note This the default installation location of the Default.aspx files for the portal site home page and the My Site home page in SharePoint Portal Server. The path of these files may be different on your server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
