Path of the Log Files in the Log File Location Box on the Configure Usage Analysis Processing Page of Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration Is Truncated (823506)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
SYMPTOMS When you configure usage analysis processing in Windows
SharePoint Services and you specify the location where you want to store log
files in the Log file location box on the Configure Usage
Analysis Processing page of Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration,
you may find that the path that appears in the Log file
location box is truncated the next time that you view the page. As a
result, the log files are stored in the location that is specified by the
truncated path and are not stored in the folder that you originally
specified.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the path of the log file contains
more than 100 characters. Windows SharePoint Services truncates the path of the
log file in the Log file location box on the page to 100
characters even though the maximum number of characters that you can specify
for the path in the Log file location box is 200
characters.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, store your log files in a
different location. Make sure that the number of characters in the path of the
folder where you want to store your log files is less than 100
characters.STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
