RESOLUTION

Part 1: Create a Startup Floppy Disk

If you have a startup floppy disk, go to part 2.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click the Startup Disk tab.
  4. Click Create Disk to create the startup disk.

Note You may be prompted to insert the Windows Millennium Edition installation CD.
  5. When you are prompted, insert a formatted floppy disk into the floppy disk drive and then click OK to confirm overwriting the contents of the floppy disk.

Part 2: Rename Files

  1. Start your computer using the floppy start-up disk. To do this, leave the floppy disk in the drive and restart your computer.

Note Your computer's basic input/output system (BIOS) must be configured with the floppy drive as the first startup device. If your computer does not start up from the floppy disk, see the documentation for your computer or motherboard or contact your computer manufacturer for information about how to edit your BIOS settings.
  2. When you are prompted to select how to start, select Minimum Boot.
  3. At the command prompt, type the following (press ENTER after each line):
    • c:
    • cd \windows\system
    • ren msi.dll msi.old
