Interchanges Are Put in the Suspended Queue with a Status of "Channel Missing" or "Channel Removed" (822435)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

If Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 loses its connection to the BizTalk Messaging Management database, BizTalk Server may put the interchanges that it is processing in the Suspended queue with a status of "Channel Missing" or "Channel Removed." This problem may occur even if a valid channel exists for the interchange that is in the Suspended queue. Interchanges that are put in the Suspended queue with a status of "Channel Missing" or "Channel Removed" cannot be resubmitted through the BizTalk Server Administration tool.

MORE INFORMATION

BizTalk Server connects to the BizTalk Messaging Management database to determine routing information for the interchanges that it is processing. If BizTalk Server cannot connect to the BizTalk Messaging Management database to determine routing information, it assumes that the channel that it is trying to locate is missing. When BizTalk Server marks an interchange in the Suspended queue with a status of "Channel Missing" or "Channel Removed," the interchange cannot be resubmitted because BizTalk Server assumes that subsequent routing attempts will not be successful. This hotfix changes the behavior of the BizTalk Server Messaging engine so that it does not put an interchange in the Suspended queue if it cannot connect to the BizTalk Messaging Management database.
