Virtual Internet Information Services (IIS) Directories That Are Used by Outlook Web Access in Exchange Server 2003 (821898)

The Exchange Server 2003 default setup includes Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) and Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access.

Note OWA and Outlook Mobile Access require that Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 or Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 be installed.

Exchange Server 2003 Setup creates four virtual IIS directories that OWA uses. These virtual directories are shown in the following table:

Web Virtual Directory	Function
/Exchweb	Stores graphics and other ancillary files that OWA uses.
/Exadmin	The Exchange Administration tool uses this directory to administer public folders.
/Exchange	Stores the mailbox root.
/Public	Contains the default public folders tree.
/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync	Stores files that are used by Exchange Server ActiveSync.
/OMA	Stores files that are used by Outlook Mobile Access.

Note By default, Exchange Server 2003 includes support for mobile devices; Exchange Server 2003 Setup includes Outlook Mobile Access and Exchange Server ActiveSync components. Previously, to use these services, Microsoft Mobile Information Server was required. Exchange Server 2003 includes built-in mobile device support.
