You cannot use Assignment Manager for Visual Studio .NET 2003 Academic Edition to access data that was created by using Assignment Manager for Visual Studio .NET 2002 Academic Edition (821629)

SYMPTOMS

When you remove Assignment Manager for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2002 Academic and then you install Assignment Manager for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Academic, you cannot access the data that was originally created by using Assignment Manager for Visual Studio .NET 2002 Academic.

The original data is in the Assignment Manager database.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, you can access the data from the Assignment Manager database by using Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Assignment Manager for Visual Studio .NET 2003 Academic and Assignment Manager for Visual Studio .NET 2002 Academic cannot be installed on the same computer. Also, you cannot access Assignment Manager for Visual Studio .NET 2003 Academic by using the Teaching Tools or the Student Tools for Visual Studio .NET 2002 Academic.
