SYMPTOMSOn your Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services team Web site,
when you try to view documents in a document library in Explorer view, you may
not be prompted for your credentials, and the Web page may not be displayed
correctly. Microsoft Internet Explorer may display a blank, white Web page. Or
the Web page may display the words "Action Cancelled." CAUSEThis issue occurs if you are using Microsoft Windows XP or
later on the client computer and the WebClient service is disabled.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, enable the WebClient service on
the client computer. To do so, follow these steps. Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, right-click My
Computer, and then click Manage.
- Expand Services and Applications, and then
click Services.
- In the right pane, double-click
WebClient.
- Click the General tab.
- Do one of the following:
- To configure the WebClient service to start
automatically when the computer starts, click
Automatic.
- To configure the WebClient service so that you start
the service manually, click Manual, click
Apply, and then click Start.
Note When you configure a service to use a manual startup type, the
service does not start automatically when the computer starts.
- Click OK.
