Temporary hotfix installation files are not deleted in Windows XP (821160)

SYMPTOMSWhen you install hotfixes to Microsoft Windows XP, some temporary installation files remain on your computer and are not deleted as expected. This behavior occurs for hotfixes that are applied after the installation of Windows XP Service Pack 1.CAUSEThis problem occurs on computers that have more than one processor. It is more likely to occur on computers with faster processors.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, follow these steps: - Download and save the hotfix packages locally, and then use the -x switch to manually extract the files from the hotfix packages to a shared folder on the network.
- Install the hotfixes from the network share points.
This eliminates the requirement to extract the package into a temporary folder.
