Deadlock When the LogonUser and the LoadUserProfile Functions Are Run from Multiple Threads (821106)

SYMPTOMS

When you have a program that runs the LogonUser and the LoadUserProfile functions in multiple threads or in multiple processes, the UnloadUSerProfile function may experience a deadlock where it cannot unload the user profile.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the thread synchronization object (mutex) does not correctly handle simultaneous logons of the same user account.

RESOLUTION
