SYMPTOMSWhen you double-click a Cambridge ChemDraw 7.0 or later structure that is pasted in a Microsoft Word 6.0 or later document, the ChemDraw tools do not start for editing the structure.CAUSEThis issue occurs because you cannot start ChemDraw by double-clicking the graphic object in the Word document. This feature was named Edit Graphics Object (EGO) and was available only on Macintosh computers that ran Apple System 7.
ChemDraw and its associated programs do not currently support the OLE features of Word for the Macintosh for all versions that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, you have to copy and paste between ChemDraw Macintosh and Word.MORE INFORMATIONEGO is the protocol used that permits you to edit structures in a Word 5.0 or later document. Microsoft has dropped support of EGO in Word 6 and later. Word 6 and later now support a program linking protocol named OLE.
