SYMPTOMS

On a new Web page that you created on your SharePoint Web site, when you click Help, you receive the following error message:
"Error on Page". Link doesn't work.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you have added a custom links navigation bar with the SharePoint Top Nav Bar property to your Microsoft SharePoint Web page. The Help link has to have JScript and a link to the Owsbrows.js file. This link is not created automatically.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, create the required link to the Owsbrows.js file. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open your Web page in Microsoft FrontPage
  2. At the bottom of the Web page pane, click Split.
  3. In the top pane (code pane) of the split screen, click to insert the pointer before the </head> tag, and then type <script src="/_layouts/1033/owsbrows.js"></script>.
  4. Click File, click Save, and then quit FrontPage.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
