Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. The following Registry entry stores the dialing rules for predefined countries: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Country List\<##> Where ## represents a country as a numbered entry in this list. The numbers refer to the international country codes (for example USA = 1 and United Kingdom = 44).
For each country there are the following two registry entries. You can adjust the calling rules by editing the following registry values for all the countries:
- InternationalRule
- LongDistanceRule
For Example: To set the USA Long Distance Rule, look for an optional long distance carrier, dial 1 for long distance, dial the area code, and then dial the number. To modify the registry to adjust the calling rules:
Follow these steps, and then quit Registry Editor:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Country List\1\LongDistanceRule - On the Edit menu, click Modify.
- Type N1FG, and then press ENTER.
